Approximately 3,000 professional employees and 1,500 volunteers offer high-quality care and support to more than 10,000 clients on a daily basis. Villa Beretta is a rehabilitation clinic based in Italy, providing high-quality, compassionate medical care and rehabilitation for individuals with physical disabilities. Villa Beretta treats many types of physical disorders, with special programs for people with traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, stroke and neuromuscular disease. There also is a gait and movement analysis lab. Villa Beretta is doing research with VR, for example to understand how VR of HumanXR can help to promote physical exercise.
Alrijne is a healthcare group that is available for the residents of the Zuid-Holland region. More than 300 residents live in the Alrijne nursing homes. Vivantes and the Zorg Innovatie Atelier (ZIA) have been intensively involved in all VR developments of HumanXR from the start. Vivantes is a healthcare group specializing in personal care for the elderly. In nine relatively small locations we provide elderly care that is close to society. With four residential care centers in Geleen, two in Elsloo and one in Beek, Stein and Urmond. Self determination for elderly is key at Vivantes.

The Groenhuysen Foundation focuses on predominantly elderly people in the Roosendaal region and offers them the opportunity to get the best out of their day in their own way. That includes innovative care with the help of virtual reality. Groenhuysen offers a wide range of services, varying from convenience and comfort to intensive care, both in the form of home care and in well-kept residential facilities.
Zuyd University of Applied Science is an open knowledge institute where professionals cross the borders of disciplines and organizations to collaborate on the development, transfer, and application of high-quality, practically-oriented knowledge. The Maastricht Academy of Media Design and Technology (MAMDT) is part of Zuyd. This Academy is focusing at amongst others research and education related to art, interaction design, visual languages and coding skills. MAMDT and HumanXR are teaming up to advance the knowhow and application of VR in care.

Aalburg University Copenhagen
Dr. Jon Ram Bruun-Pedersen holds a PhD in immersive virtual reality for elderly and is assistant professor at the Aalburg University in Copenhagen. Jon has worked in the field of VR and AR since 2008. Jon’s primary user groups are elderly and challenged children (e.g. autism spectrum), where the main research includes VR for exercise motivation, content and interaction design, and multimodality within VR. Jon is scientific advisor to HumanXR in relation to the creation of immersive, intelligent and interactive VR experiences, designed to promote healthy exercise.
